In yet another shocking display of disrespect and unruly behavior, a female passenger in Navi Mumbai was recently caught on camera abusing and spitting on the cab driver due to the reason that he was reportedly seven minutes behind her pick-up location. An incident that triggered a wave of widespread outrage among netizens to condemn the act of the woman while demanding stricter actions against such type of misconduct. According to witnesses and reports, the cab driver was a little late because of some unexpected traffic congestion.

When the cab arrived, the passenger, apparently agitated, started yelling at the driver for wasting her time. The situation quickly escalated when the woman did not only use abusive language but also spat through the car window at the driver.

The cab driver recorded some parts of the incident to take evidence but kept himself under control. The video was viral on X [known as twitter] and people criticized it immensely from their end. It received pretty sharp criticism on social media. People rallied support with the cab driver. No one deserves to be treated like this, especially someone trying to make an honest living, said one. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable". The authorities must step in and set an example to prevent such incidents in the future another user wrote.

Later, the driver, who would rather not be named, explained in an interview how the incident really hurt him. "I was just doing my job. The traffic was beyond my control, and I tried my best to be on time," he said. He added that incidents like this make it hard for drivers to feel safe at work.

In spite of this cab driver's professionalism and patience, it makes one feel really sober to deal with every human being with utmost dignity regardless of the situation. At a time when people seem so short-tempered, they should be reminded of being kind and compassionate for it to bring out a much more respectful and harmonious society. As the probe unfolds, many are hoping that this is a wake-up call for better regulations and change in societal attitudes towards service workers.
