Patients at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Women's Hospital in Pandeypur, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh are facing severe hardships due to a reported lack of water supply for over 10 days. A reporter from Khabar Lahariya visited the hospital and interviewed multiple patients who struggled to access clean drinking water, an essential necessity, especially in a healthcare facility.

Among those affected was Advika Singh, a young patient, who, along with another child, expressed their distress about the dire situation. They were accompanied by an elderly woman, Amita Patel, who had come for an eye treatment. Patel confirmed the ongoing water shortage happening since 10 to 11 days and urged both the hospital authorities and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take immediate action.

She further stated that the heat of the summer is setting in and therefore water is essential. She went on to say they would eventually have to buy bottled water so if not her at least she would be able to ensure that at least the kids would be able to drink.

During the visit, two other adult patients were seen attempting to access drinking water from hospital taps, only to find them dry. One of them voiced concerns over the hospital’s management, emphasizing that a healthcare institution must prioritize such basic amenities.

The crisis raises serious concerns about patient welfare, as individuals seeking medical treatment are now forced to search for drinking water within the hospital premises, often in vain. Access to clean water is a fundamental right, and urgent intervention is required to restore basic facilities in the hospital to ensure proper patient care.
