CHENNAI: Three teachers of a government secondary school in Krishnagiri district have been accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student. The student was sexually assaulted by three teachers inside the washroom.
The three teachers were suspended by the District Education Officer (DU) and arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The schoolgirl near Pachampally in Bargur taluk was absent from school since January 5. The incident came to light when the principal of the school, Jan, went to the student's home to find out the reason for her not coming to school. The incident took place inside a washroom on the school premises on January 2. Where the teachers take turns raping the minor girl.
The girl's parents informed the headmaster that she was unable to attend school due to severe abdominal pain. The headmaster did not find this to be true, as he encouraged the girl's parents to tell the truth and report the incident to the headmaster.
According to DH sources, the girl told the headmaster that she had been sexually assaulted by three teachers.
A police official said, "The girl's parents narrated the traumatic experience of their child to the headmaster. The headmaster then informed the district administration and called the child helpline. Accordingly, a case has been registered against the unruly teacher at Bargur All Women Police Station.” Three accused have already been arrested.
The police and the District Child Protection Unit have started investigating the case, and the girl's medical check-up is underway.
