Recently a massive saffron coded protest rocked Madurai on 4th February . With permission granted by the Madras High Court to hold the demonstration between 5 pm and 6 pm, thousands of fervent Hindu devotees and members of over 50 religious organizations gathered to raise their voices against what they allege are attempts by Islamist groups to slowly seize control of the historic Thiruparankundram hill.

This site, long cherished by Hindus and Jains alike, is home to the revered Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple and ancient Jain caves dating back to the 2nd century BCE, inscribed with Tamil Brahmi writings..

However, tension has been simmering for years as Muslim groups allegedly claim the site as "Sikandar Hills" due to the presence of the Sikandar Badusha Dargah, a conflict reportedly dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.

Devotees from across Tamil Nadu, including thousands of Lord Murugan followers, participated, chanting slogans to protect the sanctity of the hill and denouncing "Islamization" efforts

Addressing the gathering, BJP leader H Raja reportedly declared that Thiruparankundram should become the next Ayodhya and claimed that "the first war has already begun at Lord Murugan's first army camp." He accused the Tamil Nadu government of running a "Taliban-like administration" and called for the regime's end. His comments triggered widespread condemnation with many accusing him of purposefully stoking religious animosity and disturbing communal harmony.

Following his controversial remarks, Subramaniapuram police registered a case against Raja under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for attempting to disrupt public peace, inciting enmity between religious groups, and spreading misinformation.

BJP functionary Amar Prasad Reddy defended the massive protest, stating, "The power of Hindus in Tamil Nadu cannot be ignored." Authorities are now closely monitoring the situation amid calls for restraint from all sides to maintain communal harmony
