Nowadays, numerous species are facing extinction due to habitat destruction, poaching, and climate change, making efforts to conserve them very important. Various sanctuaries and rescue centres are playing an important role in preserving wildlife in various ways so that they receive the necessary care and protection.

Taking a step towards this goal, the Prime Minister inaugurated the world's largest animal rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation centre, Vantara, in Gujarat. He visited the centre on the day of its inauguration. The animal sanctuary is spread over 3,500 acres of land, which is home to more than 150,000 rescued, endangered animals.

During the visit, the Prime Minister toured the centre and witnessed its conservation initiatives firsthand. The prime minister played with the animals rehabilitated at the centre, including an Asiatic lion cub, a white lion cub, a clouded leopard cub, and a caracal cub.

The white lion cub he was seen playing with was born in Vantara after its mother rescued it.

The centre has an advanced multi-specialty wildlife hospital, which has an MRI, CT scan, ICU, and a specialized neonatal ICU facility for the protected animals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the MRI room of the hospital, where he saw an Asiatic tiger being scanned, and also visited the operation theatre, where he saw the arms of a leopard rescued from a roadside accident being displayed. There is also a hydrotherapy pool that helps elephants with arthritis and mobility problems.

The Prime Minister interacted with the doctors and staff running various facilities at the centre. He displayed his immense love for wildlife there and also participated in a lion safari at Gir National Park in Gujarat on Monday, on the occasion of World Wildlife Day.

Narendra Modi wished people on World Wildlife Day and said, "Today, on World Wildlife Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting and conserving the incredible biodiversity of our home. Every species of animal plays a vital role—let's secure their future for generations to come! We are very proud of India's contribution to the conservation and protection of wildlife."
