SRINAGAR: Counter agencies on Tuesday arrested five suspects for smuggling and transporting SIM cards of jailed terrorists in Kashmir, officials said.
All these SIMs were trafficked for the use of prison inmates, including all those involved in terrorism and narco-terrorism. The workers said.
The accused persons were arrested vide FIR No. 06/2023 under Sections 153A, 505, 121, and 120B IPC RW 13 and 39 UA (P).
Earlier, detectives also conducted searches inside the central jail. From there he learned today that some of the suspects were in contact with the detainees. and used to carry SIM cards along with items used for terrorist-related activities.
Officials further informed that "All these SIM cards have been issued to secure POS/Vendors of various telecom service providers. Many more are likely to be arrested.".
After interrogation, it was revealed that the suspects were residents of Daudpora of Anantnag district, Kamarwari of Srinagar district, Kursu Padsahibagh, Nathpora of Bandipora district, and Kalusa area.
