Indore: The Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested five people, including the key leader of a ring involved in printing fake currency notes and circulating them across the state, police officials said.
After investigation, the police personnel found that this gang had spread fake notes of more than twenty lakh rupees in different states. The accused rented a flat in Nagpur and used to manufacture fake notes there. The police suspect that the gang may have links with more than one state.
Speaking to reporters, Aditya Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Indore, said, "The main leader of this racket is a resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra. He rented a flat in Maharashtra and used to print fake notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500."
During the investigation, the police recovered three laser printers, A4-size paper with fake notes of Rs 500 and Rs 200, a lamination machine, a glossy ferrule used for attaching RBI security strips, a small glass table for making notes, and many other things from that flat in Nagpur.
The gang, caught by the police after an initial investigation, printed fake notes worth more than twenty lakh rupees and sent them to Indore, Mumbai, and other cities for circulation.
According to ACP Patel, the arrested accused said that they learned how to print fake notes by watching videos on online platforms like YouTube and Telegram.
He also said that a member of this alleged gang was arrested in January. The police are conducting a detailed investigation against this gang.
