Indore: Three trans women were publicly beaten up by some transgender men in Indore, a police official said on Wednesday. They question the identity of their real linga and cut their hair with it. On the basis of all these complaints, the police filed cases against some third-gender persons.
A transgender woman is someone who was born with male biological characteristics but identifies as a woman and lives with that identity.
It is learned from the police personnel that on January 25, three trans women went shopping in the Raj Bakhta area of Inder. Their ages are estimated to be between 19 and 22 years. At that time, a group of people of the third gender started beating the trans women."
The group objected to trans women dressing like women and questioned whether they were real or fake transgenders.
The police personnel also said that the accused stripped the three trans women, cut their hair, and tortured them.
An FIR has been registered against the incident at MG Road Police Station (BNS), and efforts are on to identify the accused in connection with the incident.
District Transgender Welfare Board member Nikunj told PTI, "This incident happened with trans women in the city, people of the third gender who dress like women and traditionally make a living by begging from people." Nikunj also said, "This incident is not the first. This incident has happened many times before. The police administration should take strict action against the criminals involved in this incident."
Transgender community activist Sandhya Ghavri said, "Society has changed. Many youths from the transgender community no longer live by begging. They now want to study and stand on their own feet. KB can never force a trans woman to live in a third-gender traditional camp and beg."
