In a horrifying act of brutality, a wedding cook was beaten to death inside a bus in Delhi’s Bawana after accidentally spilling food. The attackers, including the bus driver, not only thrashed him but also inserted an iron rod into his private parts before dumping his body near a pond.
What should have been an ordinary bus ride turned into a nightmare for 42-year-old Manoj (alias Babu). On the night of February 1, after finishing work at a wedding, he and his colleague, Dinesh, boarded an RTV bus carrying leftover food. As the bus moved, some food spilled onto a seat. That small accident cost Manoj his life.
The driver, Ashish alias Ashu, and his two accomplices lost their temper and forced Manoj to take off his shirt and clean the mess. While Dinesh was allowed to get off at Bawana Chowk, the three detained Manoj. The violence escalated to an unspeakable level when Ashish allegedly rammed an iron rod into Manoj’s private parts.
Once he lost consciousness, the attackers dumped his body near the Bawana flyover and fled.
The next morning, police found the lifeless body near a pond behind the DTC depot. At first, they thought he was a homeless person since no visible injuries were found. But when Manoj’s brother, Jitendra, reported him missing, a deeper investigation began. A post-mortem on February 5 revealed the horrific internal injuries, confirming that this was a case of brutal murder.
With the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the RTV bus and tracked down one of the attackers, Sushant Sharma alias Chutkuli, 24. However, the driver, Ashish, and a third accused are still on the run.
This shocking crime has sparked fury, raising serious concerns about safety in public transport. As police continue their hunt for the remaining accused, Manoj’s family is left grappling with an unthinkable loss—all because of a spilled plate of food.
