A report by Hindi news channel Aaj Tak has uncovered a disturbing trend involving the recording and sale of objectionable videos of women bathing at the Mahakumbh. These videos are being distributed through various social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, using hashtags like #Mahakumbh2025, #GangaSnan, and #PrayagrajKumbh to attract viewers and redirect them to pornographic Telegram channels.

Shockingly, some videos falsely labeled as Mahakumbh footage were not even recorded during the event. This misrepresentation is being used to further the circulation of inappropriate content. According to Telemetrio, a Telegram analytics tool, there was a significant spike in searches for the term "open bathing" between February 12 and 18, indicating a rising demand for such illicit material.

Several Telegram channels have emerged with names like:Ganga River Open Bathing Group,Hidden Bath Videos Group and Open Bath Videos Group. These disgusting channels sell videos of women bathing, changing clothes, or covering themselves with towels at prices between ₹1,999 and ₹3,000.

One such video circulating on Telegram shows a woman bathing in a river, unaware that she is being filmed. The individual recording the video deliberately goes onto zoom in on her body.

The issue is not only limited to Mahakumbh. CCTV footage from hospitals, capturing private medical check-ups of women, is also being sold on Telegram. The scale and brazenness of this operation highlight severe breaches of privacy and security.

The Aaj Tak report caught the attention of DIG Kumbh Vaibhav Krishna who has stated that social media profiles and Telegram groups involved in this illegal activity are being identified. FIRs are being registered against those responsible.

The dissemination of such videos not only violates privacy but also raises serious ethical and legal concerns. In a spiritual festivity like Mahakumbh such a horrible act is taking place raises concerns about media laws and government efforts in order to curb such behavior.
